THE NORTHERN Territory is one step closer to receiving a $12b injection in to the state in the form of the Inpex gas processing plant project.
The President of Inpex Mr Kuroda and Northern Territory Chief Minister Paul Henderson have officially opened the company’s new office in Darwin.
The Japanese oil and gas exploration and production company will be based in the Mitchell Centre in the CBD.
Henderson says that having Inpex base an office in Darwin is a significant step for the gas processing plant project that represents a $12 billion investment in the Territory. The project is expected to provide an estimated 2000 jobs at the peak of construction and a further 300 operational jobs.
The Minister says that Darwin is well placed as a site for the Inpex gas processing plant as it is a capital city, with well developed infrastructure and a deep-water harbour.
Inpex says it is currently proceeding with the final design and engineering process for the Darwin plant, before a final investment decision to proceed with building the plant.
