QLD’s Century Zinc plant won’t restart for several weeks

CHINA'S Minerals & Metals Group has announced it won't restart zinc concentrate production from its Century zinc mine for several weeks.

The company shut a pipeline that carries zinc concentrate slurry from the mine to the Karumba Port on 5 October after a spill.

The group says it had been pressure-testing the pipeline with water, but some water was released around the repaired section. MMG plans to build a bypass in the coming weeks.

Mineral processing plant operations and the production of concentrate will not restart until the bypass is installed.
