GRD joins Australia’s largest iron ore operation

GRD MINPROC has landed an engineering contract for the $5.2bn Sino iron ore project in Western Australia.

The project, situated 100km south west of Karratha in the Pilbara, is the largest magnetite iron ore operation in Australia.

Conventional open pit mining is currently underway at the site. Operations will also include progressive cut back of pit walls and large scale downstream processing.

The project has over 2Bt of identified ore, and is expected to export 27.6Mt of high-grade iron ore concentrates each year over its projected mine life of 25 years.
